About AMEWS
The Association for Middle East Women's Studies is an international organization
of scholars and other persons interested in the study of women in the Middle
East. The objectives of the Association are to advance the study of women
in the Middle East. AMEWS is an affiliated organization of the Middle East
Studies Association of North America, Inc. AMEWS was founded over sixteen
year ago by scholars interested in promoting quality research in the field
of Middle East women's studies.
AMEWS meets annually in conjunction with the Middle East Studies Association
annual conference. AMEWS organizes conference panels and symposia for the
presentation of original scholarship, and through its quarterly publication,
MIDDLE EAST WOMEN'S STUDIES REVIEW which discusses publications on woman's
history in the Middle East and North Africa, critiques the literature in the
field, reviews films, provides a forum for the discussion of current issues,
communicates events, jobs, and fellowship opportunities, provides links for
scholars and recognizes the accomplishments of its members. Membership in
AMEWS is open to anyone with an interest in Middle East women's studies.
