CROATIA

The Croatian National IFRWH Committee has been extremely busy with organizing several events this academic year.

Oenska Infoteka (Women's Infoteka - Women's Information and Documentation Center from Zagreb) and the Croatian IFRWH Committee have been organizing a work-in progress "Women's History in Croatia: A Cultural Perspective". We organize lectures on women's history of the region, and intend to publish a book with the same title in Spring 2001. We would like to publish the book in Croatian and English, but lack the financial support to do so. In case there are any sponsors interested in this project, please contact Andrea Feldman.

Annual International Conference on "Women and Politics," IUC, Dubrovnik, Croatia, May 10-13, 2001.
Oenska infoteka is organizing its fifth annual conference in the framework of the Interuniversity Center Dubovnik, (IUC) which brings together women from Eastern Europe, former Soviet Union republics and Middle East. The leading title of the seminar is "Women and Politics" and the focus of the 2001 seminar is going to be on women's history and gender history. Working together in the seminar, women from the region have an opportunity to contribute particular knowledge about their respective countries, present their researches, develop common, regional researches, and learn from each other. Publishing the books of the proceedings of the seminar, as has been the case so far, helps in spreading the ideas and knowledge presented at the international seminar much wider. Seminar directors are Durdja Knezevic, the director of Oenska infoteka, Andrea Feldman, the IFRWH national coordinator, Wendy Bracewell, SSEES, University College London.

An issue with a focus on women's history has been prepared for publication in a feminist magazine Kruh & ruoe (Bread & Roses), forthcoming Spring 2001. Authors include: Andrea Feldman, Branka Boban, Jelka Vince, Jasenka Kodrnja and Ivana Pavicic Prijatelj. The magazine is in Croatian, with the summaries in English.
